No. Under section 10 of the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007 only a natural person can be licensed, so each licence belongs to an individual immigration adviser, not to the firm. At an immigration adviser firm, immigration advice comes from licensed immigration advisers. At a law firm it comes from New Zealand lawyers, who hold practising certificates issued by the New Zealand Law Society and are exempt from immigration adviser licensing under section 11 of the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007. A New Zealand lawyer may neither apply for nor hold an immigration adviser licence, and since 30 March 2025 the exemption also covers employees of New Zealand lawyers and of incorporated law firms.
