Privacy

What we publish

This site publishes information about licensed immigration advisers sourced from the Immigration Advisers Authority public register, which exists so that people can check who is licensed to give immigration advice. We publish licence and business information from that register; we do not publish immigration advisers' personal contact details.

Visitors

For visitors: this site does not require accounts and does not sell personal information. Standard server logs are kept for security and performance.

Corrections

Immigration advisers who believe information here misstates the register should use the corrections page; we fix errors promptly.

Frequently asked questions

From the Immigration Advisers Authority's public register, which the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007 requires the Registrar to keep and lets any person search. We republish the register's facts: the name as registered, the licence number, type and status, the dates the licence was issued and expires, the filing history and the business the register records. We add nothing to them, and we do not publish phone numbers, email addresses or photographs from the register. Immigration lawyers are listed from the New Zealand Law Society's register and firms' own websites, and disciplinary and tribunal decisions are shown as the tribunals published them.

No. The Privacy Act 2020 treats information taken from a publicly available publication, which it defines to include a public register, differently from information collected from the person it concerns. Such information may be collected, used and disclosed without that person's consent or notice, provided that is not unfair or unreasonable in the circumstances (principles 2, 10 and 11). Nothing on a listing is collected from the practitioner it describes.

Not on request. The directory mirrors the register in full so that the public can rely on it: nobody can pay to be added, moved or removed, and nobody can ask to be. If the Registrar restricts public access to your register entry under the Act, this site follows the register at its next monthly refresh.

Tell us on the corrections page and we will fix it promptly; the register always prevails over anything published here. If your details are wrong on the register itself, update them with the Immigration Advisers Authority first and this site follows on the next refresh.
